Northwood Ravin Partners with Humane Society of Charlotte to Expand Pet-Inclusive Housing
New initiative waives pet fees for adopted animals and supports shelter efforts across Charlotte communities
CHARLOTTE, NC – (November 7, 2025) – Northwood Ravin, a Charlotte-based multifamily development, construction and property management firm, today announced a new partnership with the Humane Society of Charlotte (HSC) to waive the one-time pet fee for any pet adopted from HSC by current or new residents at its Charlotte-area communities.
This partnership aligns with Northwood Ravin’s long-standing pet-friendly living experience with no breed or weight restrictions. While many rental properties allow pets, pet-friendly doesn’t always mean pet-inclusive. Breed restrictions, weight limits, and additional fees can create unnecessary barriers for renters and restrict housing options for pet-owning families.
“When I was searching for a place to live, I kept running into breed restrictions that made it nearly impossible to find a place for me and my dog,” said a resident at the Lodges at Fort Mill. “Finding a community that didn’t place limits on who my pet could be was a huge relief.”
To further support HSC’s mission, Northwood Ravin will host donation drives across its Charlotte properties, inviting residents and staff to contribute pet toys, food and supplies. Northwood Ravin’s Village at Commonwealth hosted a drive this summer, exceeding expectations by collecting more than double the anticipated donations.
Founded in 1978, the Humane Society of Charlotte is a community resource dedicated to improving the lives of companion animals and the people who care for them. Guided by a mission to champion animal well-being and strengthen the human-animal bond, HSC offers adoption services, wellness care and outreach programs that support responsible pet ownership and inclusive communities. So far this year, HSC has helped almost 3,000 dogs find homes, contributing to their 99% live release rate and commitment to socially conscious sheltering.
“Our partnership with Northwood Ravin goes beyond housing – it’s about building a compassionate community, said Sophie Zapf, Philanthropy Manager at the Humane Society of Charlotte. “Many families are struggling to feed their pets, and this collaboration helps remove adoption barriers while highlighting the importance of giving. Together, we’re making it a little easier for pets to stay with the families who love them.”
“At Northwood Ravin, we believe that pets are more than just companions; they’re family members and friends,” said Caitlin Foster, Regional Property Manager at Northwood Ravin. “Too often, families face unnecessary barriers when trying to find housing that accepts all breeds and sizes, and we want to be a trusted solution for pet owners who deserve inclusive, supportive living environments.
Northwood Ravin communities offer a range of pet-friendly amenities, including on-site dog parks, pet washing stations and easy access to green spaces and walking trails, reinforcing their dedication to a lifestyle that embraces pets as integral members of the home. Properties eligible for the HSC waived fee include The Vue, Museum Tower, Uptown 550, 500 West Trade, Sloan at LoSo, Providence Row, Village at Commonwealth, The Lodges at Fort Mill and the Townhomes at Bridlestone and Elm.
