10 Ways to Know You Found the Right Apartment

Searching for the perfect apartment can feel overwhelming, but when you find “the one,” you just know. Whether you’re looking for a place that feels like home, offers luxurious amenities, or enhances your daily life with thoughtful design, signature Northwood Ravin properties provide everything you need for elevated living. Here are ten signs that you’ve found the right apartment:

1. Natural Light and Stunning Views

Nothing enhances a space like abundant natural light. Our apartments with 9′ – 10′ ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows create a bright and airy ambiance while offering breathtaking views. If you walk in and feel an instant sense of openness and warmth, you’ve found a winner.

2. Top-Tier Kitchen Features

A well-designed kitchen is a game-changer, and high-end stainless steel appliances, real wood floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, and LED under-lighting make all the difference. If you enjoy cooking or simply appreciate a beautifully designed space, these details signal a high-quality living experience.

3. Spa-Like Bathrooms

Luxury should extend to every corner of your home, and the bathroom is no exception. Designer backsplashes, soaking tubs, sleek glass shower enclosures, and rain showerheads transform everyday routines into a spa-like retreat. When you step into the bathroom and feel instantly relaxed, you know you’ve found a special place.

4. Private Outdoor Space

A private patio or balcony is an extension of your home, providing a personal retreat where you can unwind and enjoy fresh air. If your apartment offers this feature, it’s a sign that your new home values comfort and lifestyle.

5. Resort-Style Pool Access

Your apartment should feel like a vacation every day. Having access to a resort-style pool means you can enjoy relaxation, sunbathing, and socializing without leaving home. This amenity is a game-changer, especially in warmer months.

6. Wellness and Fitness Facilities

A 24/7 state-of-the-art fitness center right at your doorstep means no more excuses for missing workouts. Whether you prefer weight training, cardio, or yoga, having an accessible and well-equipped gym makes a huge difference in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

7. Indoor Spas and Saunas

A long day deserves a soothing end. If your apartment community offers indoor spas and saunas, you know you’re living in a space that prioritizes relaxation and wellness. This luxury feature is perfect for unwinding and rejuvenating whenever you need it.

8. Game Rooms & Golf Simulators

Entertainment should also be built into your home life. Game rooms and golf simulators offer fun, convenience, and a social atmosphere without having to venture out. Whether you’re hosting friends or just enjoying some downtime, these amenities elevate your living experience.

9. Quality Craftsmanship & Thoughtful Design

An apartment that feels high-end is often defined by the details—custom wood cabinetry, designer backsplashes, and sleek finishes all indicate superior craftsmanship. When the finishes feel luxurious and well-crafted, it’s a sign you’ve found a quality home.

10. A Community That Feels Like Home

Beyond the physical space, the right apartment should make you feel a sense of belonging. Whether it’s the friendly neighbors, well-maintained property, or welcoming environment, if you feel at home from the moment you step in, you’ve found the right place.

Finding the perfect apartment is about more than just square footage—it’s about lifestyle, comfort, and quality. If an apartment checks all these boxes, you know you’ve discovered a space where you can truly thrive. At Northwood Ravin, giving back to the community is something that happens year-round. Our Charlotte corporate office and site teams are proud to have partnered with the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, bringing holiday joy to families in need!

A History of the Angel Tree Program

Sloan Spy Chase Wraps Up with Exciting Victory in Lower South End

The thrilling search for the Sloan Spy came to an exciting close on November 11, 2024, after a competitive chase that saw over 200 participants racing to unlock clues and decode riddles.

Evan Degraggenriedt, Lauren Carroll, and Engie Ramirez formed a team and traveled across Lower South End to visit local businesses in search of five keys. After learning about I Spy Sloan from a CLTBucketList post on Instagram, the trio signed up and set out to explore new spots and check out The Sloan at LoSo

“We made sure we didn’t eat because we knew a lot of them were restaurants,” said Degraggenriedt. “Then we went in an order that was closest and made a whole day out of it!”

The I Spy Sloan campaign, designed to boost awareness of The Sloan at LoSo and show off the Lower South End neighborhood, offered participants the chance to discover new local gems. Reflecting on the experience, Ramirez shared, “all the places we went to were new, so it was fun to explore new places.”

The Sloan at LoSo, a Northwood Ravin Signature Community, is making a splash in the Lower South End neighborhood. Since opening its doors in September, it’s become a trendsetter with its stunningly designed apartments and dynamic community campaigns!

Inside The Sloan, kitchens offer ample storage with floor-to-ceiling cabinets and top-of-the-line appliances. In line with the community’s emphasis on green space, most apartments feature oversized balconies. Ramirez was particularly impressed by the Eurotub—an integrated bathtub and shower feature that extends the spa-like ambiance of The Sloan throughout the entire apartment.

Win $5,000 In The Sloan at LoSo’s Ultimate Charlotte Scavenger Hunt

Get ready for an exciting adventure in the Lower South End neighborhood! The search for the illusive Sloan Spy starts on November 11, and participants can find them once they have collected five keys.

Participants must visit five of the eight participating businesses around Lower South End, which can be found on the I Spy Sloan website. A purchase must be made from the business to earn a key or participants can tour The Sloan at LoSo to earn two keys.

Once all keys are collected, participants must follow the Sloan Spy’s Instagram page for daily clues to uncover the spy’s hiding spots. Starting on November 11, clues will include cryptic messages and time windows for when the Sloan Spy will be at each location, spanning morning, mid-day, afternoon, and evening, seven days a week, until the Spy is caught.

“Our goal was not only to showcase the community spirit and lifestyle of The Sloan but to highlight the exceptional local businesses that make this area such a unique and vibrant destination,” said graphic designer, Laurel Gabel.

The scavenger hunt was launched with a kick-off event on October 29, 2024, at The Sloan at LoSo’s new Speak Easy, featuring an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, and the elusive Sloan Spy in attendance.

The Sloan Speak Easy is split into a game room and bar. The game room boasts a poker table, shuffleboard and pool table. The other side has a full bar and banquette seating. The entire space is available for resident use throughout the day and rentable for private events.

“We wanted to create a space that was moody and full of intrigue. Warm and inviting but with a touch of whimsy with the finishes and fixtures,” said interior designer, Carol Hall. “The game club side is the active part of the entire space but allows for the Speakeasy side to be more quiet and private.”

Opened in September 2024, The Sloan at LoSo boasts 368 luxury units and plenty of green space. Unique amenities include a dog park, rooftop lounge, spa, and sauna. For a limited time, new applicants can receive up to ten weeks free after touring

Northwood Ravin Partners with TreesCharlotte for TreeDay Planting

CHARLOTTE – Northwood Ravin is once again partnering with TreesCharlotte as a Poplar planting season partner. TreesCharlotte is a Charlotte based non-profit dedicated to grow, diversify, steward, and educate about Charlotte’s trees and iconic urban forest.

As a Poplar planting season partner, Northwood Ravin will participate in a TreeDay planting where they will plant 68 trees at Long Creek Greenway. The Northwood Ravin team will also engage in a TreeWalk experience and a Lunch and Learn about the importance of the continued health and well-being of Charlotte’s tree canopy.

TreesCharlotte Executive Director Allison Rhodes said, “Our work would not be possible without the dedication and generosity of corporate partners like Northwood Ravin.”

47.3% of Charlotte’s land was covered with tree canopy in 2022, this number is expected to drop to 40% by 2050, TreesCharlotte is dedicated to preventing this devastation. In a study of the urban tree canopy conducted by PlanIT Geo for the City of Charlotte and TreesCharlotte, researchers found that in just four years Charlotte lost 1000-acres of canopy, the size of the UNC Charlotte campus.

Northwood Ravin is also working towards protecting Charlotte’s trees. One of their newest properties, The Sloan at LoSo, is in a tree-save area. The Sloan has more mature trees on site than any new project in all of South End or Lower South End.

“As our city faces potential canopy loss, the support Northwood Ravin offers is crucial for the protection of our beloved tree canopy,” said Rhodes. “We look forward to their hands-on volunteer commitment as well as the financial support they have extended for the past two planting seasons.”

About TreesCharlotte

TreesCharlotte is a nonprofit whose mission is to plant, preserve and educate the community about our urban forest. A healthy tree canopy means clean air, fresh water, storm water mitigation, cooler temperatures, healthier citizens and natural beauty. Carolina Strong: Country Music Stars Come to Charlotte for Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts

Hurricane Helene brought devastation to the Carolinas in late September, specifically the western part of the states. The mountain towns of North Carolina were destroyed by the storm, and many will never be the same.

The silver lining to the destruction lies with how quick neighbors in the Tar Heel State were to help each other. One of these efforts comes from the biggest names in country music coming together to form the Concert for Carolina.

To support those impacted by Hurricane Helene, Northwood Ravin collected donations for Operation Airdrop in the lobbies of all North Carolina properties and at the corporate office. Northwood Ravin is also giving away two tickets to Concert for Carolina; you can enter the giveaway at The Lodges at Fort Mill website.

Concert for Carolina will take place on October 26, 2024, at Bank of America in Charlotte. Headliners include Luke Combs, Eric Church, Billy Strings, James Taylor, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban and Bailey Zimmerman. Combs and Church are Western North Carolina natives, and both attended Appalachian State University in Boone, one of the many towns impacted by the storm.

Tepper Sports & Entertainment donated Bank of America Stadium for the concert and all proceeds from the concert will support relief efforts in the Carolina area. Concert for Carolina supports Chief Cares, Manna Foodbank, Second Harvest Foodbank NWNC and Samaritan’s Purse.

Northwood Ravin encourages all who can to donate time, goods or money to help those impacted by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.

A Journey from Apprentice to Full-Time Team Member

We’re thrilled to mark a significant milestone in our partnership with She Built This City (SBTC) by celebrating one of our very own, Ashleigh Elliott. Over the past two years, Ashleigh has been a vital part of our Northwood Ravin team at Uptown 550 in Charlotte, NC. We’re excited to announce that she has officially graduated from SBTC’s Maintenance Apprenticeship Program and has accepted a full-time position with Northwood Ravin as a permanent member of The Nest.

SBTC’s mission is to offer transformative programs that ignite interest and create pathways to fulfilling careers in the skilled trades for youth, women, and marginalized communities. They strive to dismantle barriers and challenge stereotypes in traditionally male-dominated industries through innovative approaches, paving the way for future job opportunities.

Their commitment, known as 50/50 by 2030, aims to achieve gender equity in the trades. This initiative not only seeks to boost the number of women in these fields but also addresses the challenges and obstacles that hinder individuals from fully participating.

Ashleigh’s path with Northwood Ravin began through SBTC’s Maintenance Apprenticeship Program, which offers hands-on experience and professional development. For two days a week, Ashleigh immersed herself in our operations, seamlessly integrating into the Northwood Ravin team. Her dedication and eagerness to learn were apparent from the start, quickly making her an integral part of our team. Her growth throughout the program has been remarkable.

Ashleigh Elliott

Ashleigh’s transition from apprentice to full-time team member exemplifies the success of our collaboration with SBTC. It highlights the effectiveness of this program and represents a significant achievement for both our organization and Ashleigh.

As we celebrate Ashleigh’s accomplishments, we also recognize the success of our partnership with SBTC. This rewarding journey inspires us to continue our collaboration and support more success stories like Ashleigh’s.

Join us in congratulating Ashleigh on her graduation and her new role with Northwood Ravin. Her journey is a testament to how dedication, support, and opportunity can lead to extraordinary outcomes.

Here’s to Ashleigh’s continued success and to many more milestones and partnerships in the future!
